How to connect a Windows computer to a PPPoE broadband connection
In certain situations, a computer that is directly linked to the ONT device via a LAN cable must be used to test a broadband fiber connection. For instance, if the router is not able to connect to the internet, you might want to check if the problem is with the ONT device or the router.
PPPoE connections need a few computer configuration procedures before they can function, whereas DHCP connections don’t. This aids in separating potential authentication and speed problems linked to the router.
What is the difference between DHCP & PPPoE?
After acquiring an IP address, DHCP connects automatically and shouldn’t need to be configured. PPPoE establishes a connection using the username and password that the Internet service provider (ISP) provides. Only Vodacom and Openserve fiber connections employ PPPoE. All of the other fiber providers use DHCP.

- Select ‘Broadband (PPPoE)’ under ‘How do you want to connect?‘.
- Type in your PPPoE username and password that you received from Home-Connect (You may leave the ‘Connection name’ blank)

By doing this, the computer will be able to connect to the internet without a router.
